Experience Hong Kong Like a Local

Learn about Chinese heritage, visit historical sites and delve into local life as you travel the streets of Hong Kong.

About Your Trip

Discover why there’s only one city in the world like Hong Kong on this DreamTrip to the “Pearl of the Orient.” Begin your day at the flower-inspired Golden Bauhinia statue that overlooks Victoria Harbour. In the Western District, stroll through a dried-seafood market area and marvel at the stalls stocked with ingredients popular in many Chinese dishes. Travel to the Governor's House, official residence when Hong Kong was under British rule. Next is the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal that opened in 1912 — an impressive 2-story granite structure nestled among modern buildings — and the former Central Police Station compound. Enjoy a ride on the longest outdoor escalator in Hong Kong, then, get another perspective of the city — from the Victoria Harbour — aboard the Star Ferry. Before the day is over, shop at the Ladies Market, offering items for everyone: clothing, toys and gadgets.

What we love:
• A statue of the blindfolded Themis, the Greek goddess of divine justice, is displayed prominently at the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal.
• Built between 1864 and 1930, the former Central Police Station compound comprises 7 buildings, including the former Central Police Station, former Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison.
• Your exciting day of discovery ends with a traditional English afternoon tea.

Destination

Hong Kong is an intense, eclectic city that draws millions of visitors annually thanks to its fascinating blend of modern culture and ancient tradition. This Pearl River Delta metropolis is one of a kind, an autonomous territory known as much for its iconic harbor skyline as its plentiful skyscrapers. Beneath its industrial- and business-focused exterior, this bustling city hides a treasure trove of unique experiences just begging to be discovered. Few cities are better for feasting — the cuisine here is truly global. And thanks to the city’s Chinese roots and British colonial background, there’s also an amazing range of historical, military and contemporary landmarks. There’s no shortage of entertainment and sights to see in Hong Kong — everything from opera to glitzy malls, and from sprawling parks to museums — earning the city the nickname, “Asia’s World City.”
